We’re honored to share that Tiimo has been named a finalist for the 2024 Apple Design Awards in the inclusivity category! This recognition reflects our commitment to creating accessible, neuroinclusive tools that center on the lived experiences of our community.
The Apple Design Awards celebrate innovation, equity, and technical excellence in app and game design. Each year, a handful of apps are chosen from millions in the App Store to spotlight those redefining accessibility, usability, and thoughtful design.
Being recognized in the inclusivity category aligns with our vision of embracing the social model of disability or acknowledging that barriers come not from individuals, but from how society and tools are designed. This milestone is not just a win for Tiimo, but for every user who has helped shape our approach.
As co-founder and CPO Melissa shares:
“We’ve always dreamed of this moment while watching WWDC together as a team. But it’s not just about the award, it’s about what it represents: a world where technology is truly designed with and for diverse minds and experiences.”
At Tiimo, inclusivity is more than a buzzword, it’s about rethinking traditional systems and creating tools that adapt to people, not the other way around. Guided by the social model of disability, we believe technology can break down barriers, amplify autonomy, and create space for everyone to thrive.
Here’s how this shapes our design approach:
We don’t see disability as a limitation but as an invitation to rethink how tools can serve everyone. Tiimo’s features allow for visual and structural customization, helping users engage in ways that feel intuitive and affirming.
Tiimo provides tools to reduce overwhelm, manage daily life, and support mental health, without reinforcing productivity pressures. Rest and joy are part of the plan, too.
Our design decisions come from listening to our community’s stories and needs. Lived experience isn’t just feedback, it’s expertise that guides what we build.
Accessibility isn’t a fixed goal; it’s a journey. We continue learning, iterating, and evolving to meet the dynamic needs of our users.
